Saturday, around 6 pm, as I was going to the Aveda store, I stopped because traffic was backed up (and if you live around Tulsa you know for sure the whole 71st street from Memorial to Mingo is insane). The Lexus SUV stopped behind me. I heard the squeal of tires, and of course flinched because I have been in a car accident before. And sure enough - BAM - here came the SUV which knocked me into the Scion in front of me. I made sure I left a compact car's length between me and the Scion and by the time it was all over with I was 15 inches away from it. I went to Urgent Care that evening because my neck and head were already hurting. The usual, Whiplash and a mild concussion. Oh and then the nice muscle spasms in my neck and back. Yeah.. just what you always wanted to do on a Saturday night. Thank Goodness Emma was not with me... of that would have been awful.
Took the car in for estimates today. Due to the body damage that was seen (you can't really get the full picture here), my car has been totaled! ^%%$&%(*&^ Totaled. My Acura Legend that I loved so much. So, now I have to deal with State Farm.. the "at fault" parties insurance carrier. They still have not called me back. Oh, I forgot to mention, the car that started this lovely chain reaction was a Kia Rio and a 17 year old, who was not paying attention was driving the vehicle. Her car is totaled as well.
I am sorer than I even thought I would be. I am going to the dr tomorrow again because my neck really hurts, deep down.
As soon as I haggle with the insurance company and get paid what I am owed on my car, I am going car shopping. I am leaning towards a Jetta. Not sure though. Anyone have any suggestions? I figure the pay off for everything will make a nice down payment. Hopefully... I sure do not want to have to drag a lawyer into this as well.
On a brighter note, we are getting closer and closer to bringing little Audrey home. I cannot wait.
I really need the bright note in my life because the girl who starts this pile up is 17 - and she only has freaking $25,000 for liability insurance. 3 cars involved... yeah, you get the picture.. I am possibly screwed. I will be lucky is to see anything out of this. I think I forsee me hiring an attorney in the near future, just for this. Since she is a minor and her dad carries her on his insurance, this should be interesting.
