I really have been around lately... unfortunately by around, I mean 14-15 hour days at the office. And quite frankly, I DO NOT like it. I am unsure of how some people function like this because I know our director works about that much if not more. This must be way the corporate ladder has no interest to me.. that is definitely it. I do not know how someone who is sane can look back on their life and think , "wow, I lead such a wonderful full life, sitting at a desk with my head attached to a phone and a computer!". But I guess some people really like that kind of stuff.
See, I am a business analyst, but before that I was a Project Manager for ever. We have a project manager in our department, but I am unsure of what he knows about project managing. Okay, maybe I am old school project managing. You get sign off from the business and the people developing the project BEFORE you do anything else. Our way is you just jump in the middle, let the business change the requirements almost all the way through the project and then cram training material writing in there before the project is even finished be coding. Oh, and let me add writing test scripts and training the folks. Also, almost all the people I work with are married men or single men... thus if they have children, there is someone else at home to lend a helping hand... cook, clean, help kids with homework.. get them to bed at a decent hour. You know I actually enjoy my daughter's company so living at work is not my idea of fun. I swear my boss forgets this on a daily basis. They are in California so by the time most of them even get to work I have already been at the office for 4 1/2 hours.
So, the past two nights I have made every attempt to leave at 4:30 so Emma's as well as my life can resemble normal!
I will quit venting now --- but I do have one good thing to share! Our new little Audrey is now 3 weeks and 5 days old. 1 more month. She is just adorable. I am going to be so busy getting ready for this little girl.
