How much is the doggy in the window

Our next door neighbor's son got a puppy for Christmas. His name is Truman and he is a most beautiful little Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He is rightfully named after President Truman, see Braeden's two older sisters each have a Chihuahua named Jefferson and Lincoln.  Brae brings him over every chance he gets, which is good.  It is getting Em used to dogs.  She knows we will get one,but need to wait.  I do not want one in the winter because you have to take them outside to do their business when it is really really cold.  Not fair to little doggy or owner.  Notice little Truman has brown eyebrows.  Too cute.    Brae brought him over one day after they really played with him (Em was at gma's and gpa's).  He gave Truman to me and he just fell asleep on me.  I was in utter heaven.

One night we went to Heyka's German Restaurant in Broken Arrow, OK.  Oh my....  absolutely wonderful.  I wish they had a web page I could refer everyone to.  Some of the best schnitzel I have had.  Em really loves schnitzel (who would have thought?), but they serve this cold kraut salad with the schnitzel and the yummiest cucumber salad.  If you are ever in the area, I recommend it!  Afterwords, we went to see the lights at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow. 

There must be thousands upon thousands of lights everywhere (somewhere around 1.5 million!).  Emma wanted to get out so badly and go walk around, but it was pretty chilly (and remember, we just ate German food, getting up and exercising after German food are two things that do not go together).

I think they must start putting them up in September or October. It is just magnificent.  But it is really hard to take good pictures from a moving car!!   Maybe next year (and no eating German food right before!).

 

Christmas Day

Christmas morning... ah... Em threw her new pj's aside to sleep in my Eagles Concert t-shirt (a very well deserved t-shirt from one of their concerts in Dallas TX in TX stadium, July 3rd... 102 degrees outside....  the stadium is not covered but there sure is not a breeze in site).   Em and I slept until about 7:30, which I thought was wonderful.... and then she dove in..

she was even helpful enough to open mine..  which is no Kitchen Aid.. but where has this been all of my life?  I have actually been using my mom's hand mixer.. her old one... her old avocado green one where the beaters fall out every now and then.  I have made cake and some wonderful biscuits Miss Alicia recommended.  She is right, you cannot eat just one.

You know Emma got her American Girl Doll and Our Generation Doll, Jordie and Jessie, respectfully (after our neighbor's wonderful daughters).  Well, she likes Jessie the best.  I got her both so she would have one to take with her (and so mom would not have a coronary if it did not make it home with her or was scraped up, dirty).

I did get one thing I really really wanted.....

if you do not have the mini iron and attachments, you have no idea what you are missing!  Wait, all I got for Christmas was appliances.. a new mixer, a mini iron, and a new washing machine..hmm... I must be getting old

I did manage to sew one thing for Emma...  matching pj's for her and one doll (still need to finish the nightgown for the other).  They are pink, her favorite color, and they have horses on them...

and a bag for the doll's clothes...  which I did sew more of over the holiday

BTW. Gymboree is having a big 60% off sale.. not a whole lot left, but there are still some WAY cute hedgehog things from their Outdoor Whimsy line.  I am actually buying some of the socks and bibs for future presents (and of course one to keep just because I am a dope).

p.s.  - the back to school thing is not setting well with Emma.  She is back to very clingy and very tired.  Poor thing.. who knew .. 10 days with Mom would make her revert back...  hopefully things will be back to normal after this week.

Christmas Eve

Feels like I have been gone forever, but I really enjoyed the rest and apparently needed it.  Since I was gone..  in sloth land, I will go through a couple of the days of Christmas Vacation for the next couple of days.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's.

Emma and I made butter Christmas Tree cookies for Santa and to make them extra special, we added toffee topping to the top.  Yes, they were yummy.  It took me forever to convince her that Santa would not come until she was asleep.  The minute I knew she was out Santa's little elves went to work ...

The elves got all of Santa's gifts out and then finally relaxed before heading off to catch some sleep as well.

Appears Santa left a Mega Fort and an American Girl Doll and an Our Generation Doll.  Guess which one Emma likes better?

aww... The Holidays

Yes, Yes, Yes, it is finally almost here! The 25 Days of Christmas on the ABC Family Channel.  OMG.. all the wonderful movies we loved as children and our children cannot wait to see (and secretly, neither can we).  There is Frosty's Winter Wonderland, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, The Year without a Santa Claus, etc.  They are even going to put on Mary Poppins.  Now, for all you adults, you will notice something when you go to their site.  There is an add for the Honda Odyssey mini van.  Kind of funny and well, disturbing in a way.  It states "Go Road Trippin'" and there are yellow and purple mushrooms swaying back and forth...kind of Willy Wonka meets Alice in Wonderland.  So, what are they trying to say?



Em went to a birthday party for my friend's daughter Meagan.  It was so cute.  It was at My Little Dollhouse.  They let the girls get all dressed up, did their hair, put on glitter makeup and painted their fingernails.  There was a doll house, the cotton candy castle, a princess Jupiter Jump, a cool black light room... all kinds of stuff.  They had a fashion show and dance lessons.  It was really neat for the girls to get to do this.  Thank you Glenna!

and yes, this is my child.. can she have more hair?  Man, could she do that Princess Liea  thing or what?  When I took her hair down last night there was a total of 25 bobby pins in her hair!









Well, tomorrow we will have a high of around 60 and things will go downhill in the afternoon.

There is already a winter weather advisory.  I gassed up the car today and stopped by grocery store to make sure I have things to make some chili, hot chocolate supplies, frozen pizza, etc.  They are predicting sleet and you know what that can do to power lines!  We will have thunderstorms in the afternoon when the Arctic front hits our warm stationary front full of moisture.  Things could get interesting around here!  I am predicting a power outage if the sleet really hits.  But I really want it to snow snow snow!!!  Just like Miss Alicia Posie.
