Cupcakes

The above pictures is from the Cupcake Swap from Peptogirl.   This is what I sent out to my partner, which I really liked doing this swap.  I even went out and found a vintage cookbook to put in (since I love cookbooks). 

My Cupcake swap partner sent me all kinds of wonderful goodies.... a cute little bag with cupcake pocket..fabric.. wonderful mini cupcake/muffin papers,sprinkles (oh yes, all girls love sprinkles), the cutest little ceramic B with cupcakes on it, cute little Martha scarp booking stickers, AWESOME cupcake tape, bath fizzies and the most wonderful Cupcake cookbook, which will be put to use, believe me!!  Emma can't wait to get it out, use the sprinkles and muffin papers.  Stephanie did just such a wonderful job with everything!!!!  Thank you Stephanie!!!!!

I am not sure if who all subscribes to Crochet Today, but oh yeah, you must get the lastest issue.  They renamed the issue and did a July/August issue. Well, for all of those of you that just love Miss Posie Alicia you will want this issue.  She has a pattern in there!!!! It is the Baby Blues dress and it is wayyyyyyy cute!  You did a great job Alicia!!!!!I would post a picture, but I think I will just let everyone go buy the issue yourself : )

Well, it is time for me to go to bed.  When I go to bed I go to sleep and do not notice the retainer like things in my mouth that contain Zoom!  It does not bother me, but I feel like a character from the Carol Burnett Show.   I have these "retainer" things over my top and bottom teeth with bleach in them, I have a lisp and have to drink through a straw shoved far back in my mouth.  This is my second night.  I only have one more night to go... YEAH  But, my teeth are whiter.  I have wanted to do this forever...  but like I said, I feel Tim Conway should be standing behind me saying "Mrs. Wiggins".

How can I watch it

I have to admit it.. I watch American Idol.  This is really the first season I have watched this show. Why, it is almost like stopping to watch a bad train wreck!  I always have to wonder if the show is staged because I cannot imagine singing in front of everyone when you are just horrible.  I guess it does show it takes all kinds in this big world.  Those that know we cannot sing (but we secretly do) and will not sing in public, those that cannot sing but sing in public anyway, those that cannot sing and just do not know it.  The latter category just floors me.  Some of those people on there are just funny and then there are those that are just incredible singers.  Some of those people just wow me.

Well I have a busy weekend ahead of me.  I have a bunch of WIPs to finish and a Brooch to make for Roxanne.  I cannot wait to finish it.  I have my ideas on paper, so far.

Off to do my pilates for the evening, but not before I show you what I bought today

I've Been Tagged

Miss Posie herself tagged moi with exposing 6 weird things about myself...  so here we go

1. When I wiggle my toes they make this horrible cracking/wrenching sound.  And I will add, it is not some small subdued noise.  Oh no, it is loud!  I cannot keep it from happening when I wiggle my toes either.  I have never had this investigated by a Dr, but I am not really sure I want to know what it's about either.  They have always done this...
2. I am a huge genealogy buff for my father's family (maternal and paternal).  The Saalwächter family from Neider Ingelheim Germany.  The furthest I can go back is 1492, for Peter Saalwächter.  I have books and books of family records.. church records from Germany in German hand writing that I can barely make out.  On the maternal side, I forget how far I can go back. I Know I have back to around 1692 for John Bunyan, but I would have to check the volumes of data I have.  I would love to write a book about my father's family, but that would mean I would need to go to Germany and talk to the two remaining branches of the Saalwächters that live in Ingelheim.  They both have thriving wineries.  We have some illustrious members to the family..Let me tell you
3. I like James Bond movies... the ones with either Sean Connery or Roger Moore.  Same goes for Elvis movies.  I can sit and watch them forever...... now I have no idea where this comes from neither of my parents watched this stuff when I was little.  Well, maybe my mom watched the Elvis movies.
4. My teeth are too big for my jaw.  We figured this out when I was around 14... I still had baby teeth at that point.  I had to have them all pulled.  It was awful.  I cried every time I knew I had to go to the dentist because I knew what was coming.  After they were gone and my permanent teeth came in... holy cow they figured out my teeth were too big for my jaw... so here we go again.  They pulled permanent teeth.  I am actually missing 8 teeth in total.  You should have seen my wisdom teeth when they cut them out. They were HUGE.  I could not believe they fit in there!  Sad thing, Emma has inherited my teeth... she was late to cut teeth as a baby as well and her baby teeth are large...one good thing... her jaw is bigger than mine!
5. I like to look for rocks when walking, at the lake on picnics, etc... now blame this one on my Dad.  He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Geology degree.  Went to work in the oil business, the bottom fell out of that, and all of his extra credit classes were in education (thanks to his very wise mother) so he went into the education business.  He has never outgrown the love of rocks and fossils.   He actually has boxes of them he donates to the school when they come to geology part in science classes... and yes, I have my own box too.  Funny thing, if you saw us on vacation.. Emma will head up the pack, looking down at the ground for rocks, then there will be me and then my dad.. all hunting for rocks.  ** Mental note**  next time we do this I MUST make my mother take a picture.  Emma will come home from school with rocks in her pockets, ready to show me all the neat rocks she found.
6. I can cross both of my eyes and then roll one (and sometimes both) around while crossed.  Once again, blame my dad.  He thought this was funny on Hee Haw when I was little.  There would always be two guys sitting around singing "I thought I found true love, she met another and pluff she was gone" .  At some point during this segment of Hee Haw I believe Buck Owens would perform this stunt.    It totally grosses my mother out, so I always sure to do it at the dinner table.  Well as an adult I showed Em how to do this and she caught on after the first try, so now when we eat at Grandma and Grandpa's we can both completely gross out my mother.   We are awful aren't we!

On a yucky note, the spare PC in the house, the one Emma plays on had a "Thermal Event" over the weekend.  I have investigated this and it basically means death to the PC.  So, I am looking at iMac's and trying to figure out if and when we can afford one.  My Dell desktop was about 6-7 years old, so it has done its duty.  I may just get a mac mini.. they are not as expensive and I already have a monitor and everything else.  Yep, that may be the way to go for now...  we will see. 

So, hmm,  who am I going to tag.... how about Kim , Joy , Ned -- girls have fun!!

Stephen King has a sense of humor

I have been thinking about this for a while, and I have determined he does have one. Why else would he have written Cell  ?

 

I say this because at any given time on any given day I can walk into the loo (Water closet, head, restroom, bathroom, toilette, potty, whatever you wish to call it) and almost all the stalls are full with women on cell phones. I have even had to wait, while doing the pee pee dance, for these women to finish their conversation so I can potty. I take that back, they never finish the conversation – they flush and keep on talking. I think they end it when they have to wash their hands (at least they still do that). I have heard women talk about court dates, where they are going for lunch, what they are going to pick up for dinner, which store has the best sales going on, and what the drinking plans are for the evening.  I have even witnessed a young man walking into the men’s restroom on his phone... we came out of our respective bathrooms about the same time and he was still on the phone. This would lead me to believe he was on the phone the entire time he was, well, you get the point. Can I say eeeewwww?

So—what does this whole phenomenon say about our society as a whole? We are going down the toilet? There are two reasons why I ask this;

1. How much must the party on the toilet not care to have another person on the phone hear them do their business and flush?
2. How much must the person on the end of the line not care if they hear that kind of thing?

I am sorry, but I find this disturbing. I mean, do you think the Queen Mum sits in the loo and conducts her business on her phone while tinkling (I hate that word, but it worked, so I am just going to flow with it—oh wait, what’s up with all the potty puns?)? That would give a whole new meaning to her taking her place on the throne.

What is so life threatening that you have to talk about it in a public bathroom, on the potty, doing your business? I have even witnessed people just going in the bathroom just to talk on the phone! There is no “lounge” area in our restroom. It’s not like these people are in a bar and the only quiet place in the building is the bathroom! Thank goodness there is no lounge in our bathrooms; no one would even be able to get into the bathroom then.

And people argue about privacy laws.. sheesh.. I just do not get it. I am sorry if this offends anyone, but you have never seen a 6 stall bathroom full of women just sitting and talking on their cell phones.

Now to the picture at the beginning.  Today the high will be 64, which is a good temperature.  BUT tomorrow the high will be 47 with rain and, gulp, possible snow!  I think we are approaching the end of fall.

P.S. I wonder how many cell phones are injured a year by being dropped in the toilet?
